Mobility of Norwegian students and teachers to Slovakia

From 20th till 26th April 2015 there were 6 students and 2 teachers from Solor videregaende skole Sonsterud Norway visiting our school and Slovakia.
Norwegians participants of mobility have got opportunity to explore the natural and cultural heritage of Slovakia. Program was full of excursions, workshops, and educational interpretations and hiking in National Park. They get know about the Slovak educational system, they have a chance to compare. There was a friendly atmosphere during the entire trip.
The aim of the mobility was fulfilled.
We have started with the sightseeing in our capital – Bratislava. The second day we have spent in Eco-centre Záježová( supported by Norway Grants) with educational eco activities. Next day we have been visiting Banská Štiavnica town, Calvary, Mining museum, Hunting museum in Saint Anton, Falconry in Štiavnické Bane, Botanical garden. We were informed about the history, culture and protection of nature in Slovakia.
Norwegian students and teachers could explore the beauties of our nature and culture, the historical sights, under the UNESCO protection, as well as waterfalls and forests. At the excursion in High Tatras National Park we have learnt about the nature protection and national park management form one of the best Slovak experts for this topic – Juraj Švajda. (University teacher and scientist, volunteer in Mountain Rescue.)
The life-time experience was our visit to the Lomnický peak with a beautiful view to the Mountain range of High Tatras.
We have made photo and text presentations about our interesting programm and also the short film. The main actors are Slovak and Norwegian students who took part in this EEA Project of Institutional cooperation between our schools. Thanks all who make this project possible to happen.
Mobility of the Norwegian group to Slovakia ( 20th – 26th April 2015)
Day 1: Monday 20.4.
By bus from Sonsterud to Oslo. The flight departure to Vienna. Transfer to Bratislava. Sightseeing in the capital city. Transfer to Banská Štiavnica, accommodation, dinner.
Day 2: Tuesday, 21.4.
Breakfast. An all-day workshop in the educational eco-centre of the Záježová (built in the EEA and Norway Grants support framework), lunch, environmental education in an interactive way.
Sightseeing in Banská Štiavnica. Old and New castles, Saint Trinity Square, dinner, free program.
Day 3: Wednesday 22.4.
Breakfast. Visit to the Calvary, tajch – Lake Klinger, Mining museum. Lunch. Visiting the Museum of hunting in Svaty Anton. Falconry centre in the Štiavnicke Bane - the only ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Europe with teaching the subject of falconry. Learning the basics of caring for birds of prey ,a discussion about the importance of birds of prey as predators in ecology of the forest. Practical demonstrations and the possibility of the basic training of "flying" predators. Dinner.
Day 4: Thursday 23.4.
Breakfast. Excursion in the school. Lecture of students and teachers from Norway for the entire school in Slovakia- about Norway, their culture, habits, school, about what they like and what they consider it’s similar, about their specifics. Consequently, knowledge quiz for the participants of the presentation – with the evaluation of the correct answers and winners of the raffle prizes. Lunch. Free program, buying souvenirs, discussion, the possibility of sports activities in boarding-house and school premises.
Slovak traditional evening – songs and dances – program prepared by Slovak students.
Day 5: Friday, 24.4.
Breakfast. Visit to Demänovská Valley and Cave of Freedom. NP Low Tatras. Trip to Spiš Castle(UNESCO), to historical centre of Levoča town(UNESCO). Visit to the Aqua Park Poprad - possibilities for relax and sport activities. Overnight in Svit.
Day 6: Saturday 25.4.
Trip to Tatranska Lomnica – museum of Tatras Nationl park – TANAP. The cable car to Skalnate pleso. From there, cable car on the Lomnicky peak. The length of stay on the Lomnický Štít - 50 minutes. Lectures about the nature and NP by University expert and volunteer of Mountain Rescue Service – Juraj Švajda. The interpretation about mountain flora, fauna, policies in TANAP (Tatras National Park) also about protection, timber production and tourism. Hiking tour from Skalnate Pleso (1 751 m,)-the direction to Zamkovsky chalet (1475 m)- local lunch - waterfall - Hrebienok descen to 905 m.
Trip back to Banská Štiavnica. Evaluation. Evaluation – an evaluation of the activities of mobility and residence, discussion, questionnaire.
Day 7: Sunday 26.4.
Departure home - to Norway.
